Matt Dickson from Eggpreneur, Kenya was recently in Canada to meet with existing and prospective partners. It was a fruitful time of sharing about the life-changing work of Eggpreneur. During this time Matt was also invited to train a group of eager learners on how to start a backyard chicken business. Matt has been delivering this kind of training to women and youth in Kenya with the goal of giving them financial independence and stability. Through a partnership between Katalyst and Eggpreneur, poultry enterprise training is being delivered to bivocational pastors in Kenya and Christian school teachers in India.

The training covers everything from how to care for a one-day old chick to how to manage the business cycle of a small-scale chicken farm. Matt covered lots during his Canadian session including receiving new chicks, the various elements and stages of feed, housing for the chickens, the life cycle, and the business cycle.
