Dr. Suman Damera never would have guessed that those two letters, “Dr,” would one day be at the front of his name. Dr. Damera was born and raised in a small village in India and never imagined living outside of that village. But God had different plans for Dr. Damera’s life. Through a local Pastor’s encouragement, Suman came to know about and applied to study at King's College.
He graduated from King's College in 2009 and blossomed into a lifelong learner and follower of Christ. After graduating from King's College, he was admitted to Hyderabad Central University where he completed all of his degrees, from his bachelors right up to his PhD. During his time as a student, Dr. Damera was elected General Secretary of the Student Body and fought for equality for the oppressed lower castes in India. His major thesis study is titled: “Changing Dynamics of Caste Violence in Andhra Pradesh: A case study of Laxmipeta Massacre.” Dr. Damera is currently praying for a Post-Doctoral Fellowship somewhere in India or abroad.
Dr. Damera is an excellent example of how King's College can be a catalyst for young lives. The education and discipleship received at King's College positions its students for fruitful lives. We congratulate Dr. Damera on his persistence and dedication. And we celebrate the successful completion of his PhD with him!
